How to Renew a UK Trademark

Written by Just Trademark It. Not legal advice. We are not the UK IPO and not registered trade mark attorneys.

A registered UK trademark lasts 10 years. It stays in force only if it is renewed. The UK IPO lets you renew in the 6 months before the expiry date, and up to 6 months after it. Renewing in those 6 months after expiry costs an extra official late fee.

The official renewal fee

On 3 November 2026 the UK IPO's published renewal fee was £245 for the first class and £60 for each extra class, plus a £60 late fee if you renew in the 6 months after expiry. Those are official fees, paid to the UK IPO, and they can change. They are not the application fees on our pricing page. Check the current figures on GOV.UK: renew your trade mark.

Your Trademark Wallet can hold the registration and the renewal date once a mark is registered. Renewing is a separate step from the original application. Using ® remains appropriate only while the registration is actually in force. See ™ and ®.

Search the name, or start the application

You will see the service fee and the official UK IPO fee before you pay. Nothing is filed until a person has reviewed it.
